Our Training Explained

Bespoke Protective Driving

Specialised training solutions designed for diplomatic security, logistics and humanitarian professionals, enhancing safety and operational effectiveness.

Training Prerequisites

Our bespoke driver training programmes are designed to meet the unique needs of your organisation. We ensure all training is delivered by qualified and accomplished DefSec instructors with a focus on safety, security, protocol and professionalism.

Safe Persons

Ensuring Trainee Readiness

To confirm that the trainees are ready and suitable to commence training, a qualified person from Post or the requesting organisation must provide written verification that all nominated trainees have supplied the necessary proof to them:

Valid Host Nation Driving License.

A full Cat C licence or host nation equivalent.

Self-certification of fitness.

A CAV qualification and qualification currency for any trainees undergoing refresher training.

In addition, an appropriate individual from the requesting organisation must conduct their own Risk Assessment for all of their personnel undergoing all aspects of training.

Safe Equipment

Vehicle Serviceability

If utilising your organisation’s vehicles for training, assurance must be provided indicating they are roadworthy and have undergone a regular service schedule. A full daily parade will be conducted prior to any training.

Safe Place

Training location

Coaching and assessment will only be conducted on public roads following initial training delivered at suitable, closed off locations. DefSec instructors will conduct a theory lesson and demonstration of all techniques and tactics prior to training.

Training Delivery

Delivery Time

PDS training will generally be delivered over five days for new drivers or two days for current CAV drivers who have previously received initial training from DefSec or an approved training provider.

Course Length

The length of course is relatively fixed to ensure the course training objectives are met to the required standard expected by the requesting organisation and DefSec instructors.

Planning

Requesting Posts or organisations should plan for trainees to receive two to five days of training and discuss specific requirements at the time of booking. There may be flexibility to adjust training time subject to review by the senior instructor.

Bespoke Training

Training of a more bespoke nature is available on request subject to a Training Needs Analysis conducted by DefSec in partnership with the requesting organisation.
